A Creative Spirit

Cheryl Miller is a woman who loved surfing the Web and designing her own website so much, she decided to make web design her next career. She has had many years of experience writing, editing, photographing, and doing layout and design of many types. Web design is the perfect opportunity for her to combine her many talents into one exciting endeavor.

Experience with Words

After college (graduating with a B.A. in French in 1972), Cheryl completed the one-year Editing and Publications Program at George Washington University. She then worked for several trade associations, writing and editing their publications.

Love of Miniatures

Cheryl's interest in miniatures began in 1980, when she took classes on how to complete a dollhouse. She has been creating dollhouses and roomboxes ever since, including miniature versions of Monet's dining room, kitchen, and studio from his house in Giverny, as well as a portion of his garden. Her magnum opus is the "Grand Staircase from the Titanic."

Experience with Photography

Cheryl took up close-up photography in order to show other people her miniatures. This type of photography is very difficult; she took several years to perfect the technique. She currently takes photographs and writes articles for Miniature Collector magazine.

Website Design

Cheryl decided she needed a website to show off her miniature scenes, so she learned a few programs to get started. This did not prove comprehensive enough, so she enrolled in the University of Virginia's Web Content Development Program. This five-course program teaches web design production, from writing the copy to creating a marketing plan. Cheryl completed the program in the spring of 2003.

Love of Art and Culture

Cheryl has been interested in art, music, and literature all of her life. She reads voraciously and attends concerts, art exhibitions, operas, and other cultural events at every opportunity. She has been "artsy-craftsy" since she was a child, trying everything from crewel needlework to stained glass, miniatures to quilting. She loves working with color and design in any form. She enjoys working with people and learning new skills. See her Skills page for her resume.

Simple Elegance

Cheryl has created four websites for herself, several for small businesses, two for artisans and one for a club. See her Portfolio showing websites she has created. See Client Comments to learn what clients are saying about the websites Cheryl created for them.
